- 2 cups soft butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup milk mixed with 1 T. vinegar for five minutes.
- Cut flour and salt into butter and mix with milk mixture.
Preheat oven to 425. Spread the butter over the bottom of a round pie or cake pan. Sprinkle on brown sugar and place apples on top.
2. Roll out the pastry and lay it over the apples and press down the edges so it fits and is sealed. Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
4. Put a large plate on top and invert pie so the caramel runs over the tart. Serve a la mode.
I love the simplicity of this recipe. I prefer to not add any cinnamon and enjoy the simple sweetness of the apples and caramel.
