2. Bird Crest (Yellow Yarn) Make 4 small leaf/feather pieces: Feather Piece (Make 4): ch 6, starting from the 2nd ch from hook: 1 sl st, 2 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc. Join the pieces together at the base using your hook and sew them onto the top of the head. 3. Note: You can insert a circular piece of rigid cardboard or plastic at the bottom to help the cup stand flat. 8. Teacup Handle (Sea Green Yarn) ch 18. Starting from 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across (17 sc). Turn and work 1 more row of sc to thicken, then attach to the side of the cup. 9. Saucer Using Cream Yarn: Rnd 1–8: Work the same as the teacup base up to 48 sc. Rnd 9: (7 sc, 1 inc) * 6 (54) Rnd 10: (8 sc, 1 inc) * 6 (60) Switch to Sea Green Yarn: Rnd 11: BLO 60 sc (60) Rnd 12: (9 sc, 1 inc) * 6 (66) — Sl st to close for a clean edge.
10. Cherry Blossoms & Branches (Pink & Green Yarn) Flowers (Make 3–4): In a MR, work (ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, 1 sl st) 5 times to form a 5-petal blossom. Embroider yellow French knots in the center. Branch & Buds: Work chains in green yarn to form the branch structure. Wrap thin wire with green yarn, attach the blossoms and buds, and anchor inside the teacup.
Assembly Sew the wings to the sides of the body, and the beak and crest onto the head. Wrap thin wire with grey thread, shape into bird feet underneath the body, and hook onto the rim of the teacup. Secure the teacup onto the saucer with invisible stitches. Place and stitch the flower branch securely inside the teacup.
