Component Patterns and Stitch Counts 1. Head (Skin Color) To achieve the rounded, slightly chubby-cheeked look seen in 1000109841.jpg, we distribute the increases evenly. 6 sc in mr = 6 6 inc = 12 (1 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 18 (2 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 24 (3 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 30 (4 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 36 (5 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 42 (6 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 48 (7 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 54 (8 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 60 Round 22 (12 rows): 60 sc Insert safety eyes between rounds 18 and 19, leaving about 8-9 stitches between them. (8 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 54 (7 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 48 (6 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 42 (5 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 36 (4 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 30 (Start stuffing firmly with fiberfill) (3 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 24 (2 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 18 (1 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 12 (Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing). 2. Legs, Shoes, and Body Joining The fairy in 1000109841.jpg stands elegantly on her tiptoes like a ballerina. Therefore, wire must be inserted into the legs. Legs (Make 2) Start with green yarn (for the shoe base): 6 sc in mr = 6 6 inc = 12 Rounds 3-5: 12 sc Change to skin color: BLO 12 sc (We will later work into the front loops with green yarn to create the ballet flat edges and criss-cross straps). Round 35 (approx. 30 rows): 12 sc. Create long, elegant legs. Stuff lightly around the wire as you go. Joining the Legs & Body Bring the two legs together side by side. Join by chaining 3 ch from the left leg to the right leg. 12 sc (right leg) + 3 sc (along the chain) + 12 sc (left leg) + 3 sc (along the opposite side of the chain) = 30 sc Round 10: 30 sc (Hips and lower body) Change to dark purple (lower dress): 30 sc BLO 30 sc (The skirt petals will be attached to the FLO of this round later). Decrease at the sides to taper the waist: 28 sc Round 22: 28 sc Change to skin color (chest area/neckline): BLO 28 sc (2 sc, 1 dec) around to bring the stitch count down to 18 sc. Round 27: 18 sc (Work a few rows straight for the neck and finish).
3. Arms (Make 2 - Skin Color) 6 sc in mr (1 sc, 1 inc) * 3 = 9 Round 25: 9 sc. Insert a thin wire inside, and stuff very lightly so the arms stay slender. Change to purple (puff sleeve detail): Inc in every stitch = 18 sc. Knit 2 rows straight, then gather/büz to close and sew onto the body. ???? Dress Details & Layered Skirt Construction The most captivating feature of this doll is its lavender petal skirt. The skirt consists of separate layers sewn onto the body. Large Skirt Petals (Dark and Light Purple - Approx. 6-8 pieces) To give the realistic petal effect seen in 1000109841.jpg, we use a gradient of stitches. Ch 15. Working along the chain: 1 sl st, 1 sc, 2 hdc, 6 dc, 2 hdc, 1 sc, 3 sc in the last chain to turn the corner. Working along the opposite side of the chain symmetrically: 1 sc, 2 hdc, 6 dc, 2 hdc, 1 sc, 1 sl st. To make the edges crisp, work one round of reverse single crochet (crab stitch) or regular sc in FLO. Assembly: Sew these petals onto the BLO round of the body. Place the dark purple petals as the bottom layer, and overlap the light purple petals right on top of them. Green Leaf Belt Follow the same logic as the petals but make them smaller (starting with 10 chains) using green yarn. Sew these around the waist right where the purple petals meet the body, functioning as a leafy belt.
????♀️ Hair Design (Brown) The hair features high volume, styled into an updo/bun at the back with wavy tendrils framing the face. Crochet the first 9 rounds of the head pattern using brown yarn to create a base wig cap, then sew it onto the head. For the curls: Secure the yarn to the edge of the wig cap. Ch 40, then work 2 hdc into each chain all the way back. This causes the strand to curl naturally. Make 4-5 of these tendrils and secure them to frame the sides of the face. The Bun at the Back: Create a separate spherical piece: 6 sc, 12 sc, 18 sc, 24 sc, 30 sc in mr. Work a few rows straight, stuff with fiberfill, and sew to the back of the head. Embellish it by embroidering vertical chain-lines over it to simulate gathered hair strands. ????♀️ Wings (White/Cream Lace Yarn) To capture the delicate, mesh-like lace appearance of the wings in 1000109841.jpg, use a mesh/chain-space technique: Ch 20. Row 2: Ch 5, skip 2 stitches, sc into the next stitch to create small loops or "cages". Increase and decrease the number of loops on subsequent rows to shape the wing into a teardrop/butterfly wing form. To ensure the wings don't sag, shape a thin white wire to match the border of the wings, and crochet single crochets around the wire to conceal it. Secure the finished wings firmly to the back of the body. ???? Accessories & Final Touches Lavender Wand: Wrap green yarn tightly around a piece of thin craft wire. At the top section, use lilac yarn to make tiny popcorn stitches or french knots (or a sequence of: ch 3, sl st into the same space) to mimic the lavender buds. Tie a small cream ribbon bow around the stem. Hair Flowers: In a magic ring, work: (ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st) * 5 to create tiny 5-petal flowers. Sew these along the front hairline like a floral tiara. Facial Sculpting: Use skin-colored yarn to sculpt the face by pulling slightly from under and to the sides of the eyes to create defined eye sockets. Apply a bit of pink blush to the cheeks to bring your lavender fairy to life!
