(12) x peacock amigurumi plushie free crochet pattern from Hooked by Kati When I was a kid, my grandparents lived in Grand Junction, CO and had a large acreage full of fruit trees. One summer, a pair of peacocks moved in, and they never left. I nicknamed them King and Queenie, and they would wander around the yard and perch on the roof. I remember thinking that King was pretty when he had his tail up in his classic tough-guy display, but that he was most beautiful when he was strutting along, his tail gently floating behind him, swaying in time. I always marveled at how his long feathers always fell perfectly back into place after his dance. In this spirit, I chose not to make a peacock with its tail in the air, but rather one with its tail folded into that soft royal train. peacock amigurumi plushie free crochet pattern from Hooked by Kati Regal’ shape was inspired by many lovely art pieces featuring a slender, curved neck peacock dragging a long, flowing tail behind him. Very specifically, I used Peacock Blue II by Tim O’toole for most of my shaping references. These royal-looking peacocks were sitting on branches with their glorious tail hanging below them. I wanted to make sure that this fellow would stand on his own and have a little extra leg support so he too could drape his tail over a shelf or tree branch. Construction His curved neck is made in much the same way as the curved trunk on the Elephants in Love. The tail on our majestic friend is done by making 9 individual tail feathers, all fringed for the entire length of the feather and attached individually to the body. Feathers are loosely attached to one another, but allowed to flow and move the way a real peacock’s tail floats out behind them when they walk. Regal has been UPDATED to the new Premium Pattern 2.0!
