Amigurumi Mother Cat Pattern (To make the kitten, you can either use the exact same pattern with a much finer yarn and a smaller hook size, or scale down the starting rounds based on a 4-stitch base instead of 6. This pattern is sized for the mother cat.) 1. HEAD (Top to Bottom) Start with the orange yarn. (The lower face and chin area will transition into the cream color later). 2. BODY (Bottom to Top - Upright Form) The cat's chest protrudes forward and is white, while the back is nicely curved. If needed, insert a plastic wire or support rod into the center so the neck stays stiff. Fasten off. 3. MUZZLE (Mouth/Nose Area) Crochet with cream-colored yarn. Round 1: Ch 6. Starting from the 2nd ch from hook: 4 sc, 3 sc in the last ch stitch. Turn and work along the opposite side of the chain: 3 sc, 1 inc in the last stitch (12) Round 2: 1 inc, 3 sc, 3 inc, 3 sc, 2 inc (18) Round 3: 18 sc Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff the leg, flatten the top opening, and sc across both sides to close it. 6. HIND LEGS / THIGHS (Make 2) Because the cats are sitting down in the image, the upper part of the hind legs is crocheted as separate round thighs sewn to the sides of the body. Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6) Round 2: 6 inc (12) Round 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) * 6 (18) Round 4: (2 sc, 1 inc) * 6 (24) Round 5: (3 sc, 1 inc) * 6 (30) Rounds 6–10: 30 sc (Round curve of the thigh) Round 11: (3 sc, 1 dec) * 6 (24) Round 12: (2 sc, 1 dec) * 6 (18) — Stuff with fiberfill and leave open with a long tail to sew to the lower sides of the body. Note: You can crochet a smaller version of the front paw and stitch it to the front-bottom of this thigh to complete the foot.
7. TAIL Start with orange yarn (the tip can optionally be done in cream). Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6) Round 2: (1 sc, 1 inc) * 3 (9) Rounds 3–30: 9 sc (Continue until it reaches your desired length). Stuff lightly or insert a flexible wire. ???? Assembly and Realistic Details The assembly step is critical to capturing the realistic expression shown in the photo: Head and Body Assembly: Use pins to center the head onto the neck of the body. Sew securely. Right before completing the last few stitches, stuff extra fiberfill into the neck to keep it rigid. Muzzle and Face Detailing: Center and sew the cream muzzle right under the eyes. Using pink yarn, stitch an upside-down triangle at the top-center of the muzzle for the nose, then make a straight line going down to shape the cat's mouth. Eye Indentation: To give the cat a soulful look, take a needle with matching yarn, insert it under the chin or from the back of the neck, pull it out near the inner corner of one eye, loop it slightly, and pull it back down to the neck. Tug gently to create subtle eye sockets. Ears: Position them on top of the head between Rounds 5 and 11, curving them slightly as you sew to give them depth. Leg Placement: Hind Thighs: Sew them symmetrically to the lower left and right sides of the body, making sure the cat stays balanced and stands stably on a flat surface. Front Legs: Position them right underneath the white chest patch, close together, pressing firmly flat against the ground. Tail: Sew it to the lower middle back of the cat, then wrap it gracefully around the front of the paws just like the cats in 1000108116.jpg.
