Materials Needed Yarn: Cotton or acrylic amigurumi yarn (cream, grey, pink, or calico colors) Crochet Hook: 2.0 mm or 2.5 mm Safety Eyes: 4 mm or 5 mm black safety eyes (or black beads) Embroidery Thread: Pink/White and black embroidery floss (for the nose and whiskers) Others: Fiberfill stuffing, stuffing tweezers, tapestry needle, keychain ring Abbreviations (US Terms) sc: Single crochet inc: Increase (2 sc in the same stitch) dec: Decrease (sc 2 together) hdc: Half double crochet dc: Double crochet ch: Chain sl st: Slip stitch BLO: Back loop only 1. Head (Make 2) The head is made by crocheting 2 flat circular motifs and joining them together. Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6) Rnd 2: inc in every st -> 6 inc (12) Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (18) Rnd 4: (2 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (24) Note: Fasten off the first piece. Do not cut the yarn on the second piece; continue directly to the ears.
2. Ears and Joining the Head Place the wrong sides of both circular head pieces together. You will crochet through both layers simultaneously. Ear 1: 1 sc, 1 hdc, (1 dc + ch 2 + 1 dc into the same st), 1 hdc, 1 sc. Top of Head: 3 sc across the top edge. Ear 2: 1 sc, 1 hdc, (1 dc + ch 2 + 1 dc into the same st), 1 hdc, 1 sc. Finishing: Continue single crocheting around the remaining edges to join the head pieces. Insert safety eyes between Rnds 3 and 4 (or sew beads after joining). Lightly stuff with fiberfill before closing completely. Embroider a triangle pink nose and black whiskers using embroidery floss. 3. Body (Ribbed Flat Body) The body is crocheted in ribbed rows to create vertical texture lines. Row 1: Ch 9. Starting from the 2nd ch from hook, 8 sc, ch 1, turn. (8) Rows 2–6: Working in BLO only, 8 sc, ch 1, turn. (8) Row 7: Sc around the perimeter to create a neat flat shape, then fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Note: Lightly stuff the center of the body so it remains semi-flat.
4. Tail Row 1: Ch 11. Row 2: Starting from 2nd ch from hook, 10 sc. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Assembly Head & Body: Sew the head securely onto the top center of the flat body piece. Tail: Attach the tail to the lower back corner, curving it slightly upward. Ear Details: Embroider small pink details inside the ears. Keychain Attachment: Attach the jump ring/keychain loop to the top center of the head between the ears.
