Abbreviations Mr: Magic ring Sc: Single crochet Inc: Increase (2 sc in the same stitch) Dec: Decrease (Sc 2 stitches together) W: 3 sc in the same stitch Ch: Chain Blo: Back loop only Flo: Front loop only ???? Detailed Pattern & Instructions 1. Arms (Make 2) Start with the skin-colored yarn. Stuff very lightly, and leave the upper section unstuffed. Round 1: 6 sc in Mr Round 2: (1 sc, 1 inc) * 3 = 9 sc Rounds 3-30: 9 sc (Crochet plain for 28 rounds) Fasten off and hide the yarn tail. The arms will be joined directly into the body later. 2. Shoes, Legs, and Pants For this doll, the pants are not crocheted separately to be put on later; they are crocheted as a direct continuation of the body. We will transition straight from the shoes into the wide-leg pants.
Shoes & Leg Base (White Yarn) Round 1: Ch 7. Starting from the 2nd ch from hook: 5 sc, 3 sc in the last chain loop (W). Turn to work along the opposite side of the chain: 4 sc, 1 inc = 14 sc Round 2: 1 inc, 4 sc, 3 inc, 4 sc, 2 inc = 20 sc Round 3: 1 sc, 1 inc, 4 sc, (1 sc, 1 inc) * 3, 4 sc, (1 sc, 1 inc) * 2 = 26 sc Round 4: BLO 26 sc Rounds 5-6: 26 sc (2 rounds) Round 7: 6 sc, 7 dec, 6 sc = 19 sc (The toe of the shoe begins to shape) Round 8: 4 sc, 5 dec, 5 sc = 14 sc At this point, you can cut and place a piece of rigid plastic into the sole for stability. Stuff firmly. Wide-Leg/JNCO Style Pants Section (Light Blue Yarn) Switch to light blue yarn. Since the pants in image 1000103782.jpg are quite baggy and oversized, we will increase rapidly at the ankles. Round 9: FLO (1 sc, 1 inc) * 7 = 21 sc Round 10: (2 sc, 1 inc) * 7 = 28 sc Rounds 11-35: 28 sc (Crochet plain for 25 rounds) Fasten off the first leg. Do not cut the yarn on the second leg, as we will use it to join them together. Joining the Legs & Lower Body Round 36: Ch 3 from the second leg and join to the first leg with a sc. 28 sc (around 1st leg) + 3 sc (along the chain) + 28 sc (around 2nd leg) + 3 sc (along the opposite side of the chain) = 62 sc Rounds 37-44: 62 sc (Crochet plain for 8 rounds to build up the pants rise) Round 45: Shape the waist by decreasing on the sides and back: (13 sc, 1 dec) * 4, 2 sc = 58 sc Round 46: 58 sc Round 47: (Switch to White Yarn for the belt - BLO): 58 sc Leave the blue yarn tails at the front safely; you can later go back into the FLO loops of round 46 to create the belt loops.
3. Striped Top and Upper Body Change colors every two rounds between Lime Green and Yellow. Round 48: (Using Green Yarn - BLO): (7 sc, 1 dec) * 6, 4 sc = 52 sc Round 49: (Green) 52 sc Rounds 50-51: (Yellow) 52 sc Round 52: (Green) (6 sc, 1 dec) * 6, 4 sc = 46 sc Round 53: (Green) 46 sc Rounds 54-55: (Yellow) 46 sc Round 56: (Green) (5 sc, 1 dec) * 6, 4 sc = 40 sc Round 57: (Green) 40 sc Rounds 58-59: (Yellow) 40 sc Round 60: (Green) (4 sc, 1 dec) * 6, 4 sc = 34 sc Joining the Arms Round 61: (Green Yarn) We will attach the arms to the body during this round, aligning them perfectly to the sides. Crochet: 9 sc on the body, 3 sc through both the arm and body together, 14 sc across the front of the body, 3 sc through both the second arm and body together, 5 sc across the back of the body = 34 sc. Round 62: (Switch to Skin Color - BLO): The top is now finished. We will sculpt the shoulders and neck using the skin tone. Incorporate the remaining 6 unworked stitches of each arm into this round, decreasing along the way: Repeat a (3 sc, 1 dec) sequence to bring the total count down to 24 sc. Insert your support wire/skeleton into the body and stuff firmly with fiberfill. Round 63: (2 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 18 sc Round 64: (1 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 12 sc Rounds 65-69: 12 sc (Crochet plain for 5 rounds to form the neck) 4. Head You can continue directly from the neck or crochet it separately and sew it on. Crocheting it separately usually yields a much crisper shape. Round 1: 6 sc in Mr Round 2: 6 inc = 12 sc Round 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 18 sc Round 4: (2 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 24 sc Round 5: (3 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 30 sc Round 6: (4 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 36 sc Round 7: (5 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 42 sc Round 8: (6 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 48 sc Round 9: (7 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 54 sc Round 10: (8 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 60 sc Round 11: (9 sc, 1 inc) * 6 = 66 sc Rounds 12-25: 66 sc (Crochet plain for 14 rounds)
Placing the Eyes & Shaper Rounds Insert safety eyes between rounds 19 and 20, leaving a gap of 9 to 10 single crochets between them. Melting the plastic pins slightly on the back before locking them helps create that signature inset look. Round 26: (9 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 60 sc Round 27: (8 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 54 sc Round 28: (7 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 48 sc Round 29: (6 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 42 sc Round 30: (5 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 36 sc Round 31: (4 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 30 sc Start stuffing the head with fiberfill. Push plenty of stuffing toward the cheeks to get that chubby, youthful face shape. Round 32: (3 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 24 sc Round 33: (2 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 18 sc Round 34: (1 sc, 1 dec) * 6 = 12 sc Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing the head to the neck. ???? Assembly, Hair, and Finishing Touches 1. Facial Sculpting and Details Eye Indentation: Once the head is stuffed and closed, loop a strand of skin-colored yarn from the lower edge of the eyes out through the neck opening. Pull gently to sculpt deep-set eye sockets. This mimics the anime/bratz style depth seen in image 1000103782.jpg. Nose: One round below the eyes, wrap skin-colored yarn horizontally across 2 single crochets about 3 to 4 times to form a small button nose. Lips: Use pink or red embroidery floss to create a clean horizontal line, gently filling it out to form small plump lips. Makeup: Apply actual cosmetic blush or pink pastel dust right below the eyes, extending out toward the cheeks. 2. Hair (Ginger/Copper Yarn) The hair on this doll uses the "strand rooting" method: Wig Cap: Using the ginger yarn, follow the head pattern up to round 22 to create a basic beanie cap. Sew this securely to the head. Hair Strands: Cut numerous strands of yarn, each roughly 40–50 cm long. Starting directly along the center part line of the head, use your crochet hook to loop and knot these strands into the wig cap one by one. Gather the hair on both sides into high pigtails just like the photo, tie them off securely, and trim the bottom edges evenly with scissors. 3. Pant Graffiti/Tattoos Using thin black embroidery floss and a fine needle, sketch out the hearts, stars, spirals, and abstract doodles onto the pants. Using a "backstitch" technique will make the floss look like clean pen ink lines drawn directly onto denim.Once the embroidery is finished and the head is attached, clip your miniature snap barrettes and star clips into her hair to wrap up your Y2K amigurumi project!
