Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. 3. Body and Neck (Cream Yarn) We will crochet the body starting from the back (tail area) and narrowing up toward the neck to give it an anatomical shape. Round 1: 6 Sc in MR (6) Round 2: 6 Inc (12) Round 3: (1 Sc, 1 Inc) * 6 (18) Round 4: (2 Sc, 1 Inc) * 6 (24) Round 5: (3 Sc, 1 Inc) * 6 (30) Round 6: (4 Sc, 1 Inc) * 6 (36) Round 7: (5 Sc, 1 Inc) * 6 (42) Round 8: (6 Sc, 1 Inc) * 6 (48) Round 9: (7 Sc, 1 Inc) * 6 (54) Rounds 10-18 (9 rounds): 54 Sc At this stage, insert your leg wires into the bottom of the body. Round 19 (Chest curve decreases): Crochet 24 Sc across the back, then (1 Sc, 1 Dec) * 10 (This narrows the front section) (44) Rounds 20-22: 44 Sc Round 23: 12 Sc, (2 Sc, 1 Dec) * 8 (36) Rounds 24-25: 36 Sc Round 24: (4 Sc, 1 Dec) * 6 (30) Round 25: (3 Sc, 1 Dec) * 6 (24) Round 26: (2 Sc, 1 Dec) * 6 (18) – Stuff the body firmly. Rounds 27-41 (15 Rounds - NECK section): 18 Sc (Once the neck wire is positioned inside, stuff around it as you crochet). Fasten off.
4. Legs and Feet (Orange Yarn - Make 2) First, the toes are crocheted and joined together, then you continue working upward for the leg. Toes (4 for each foot: 3 front toes, 1 back toe): Round 1: 6 Sc in MR Rounds 2-6 (5 rounds): 6 Sc (Cut the yarn for the first 3 toes; do not cut the yarn on the 4th toe, as we will use it to join them). Joining: Connect the 3 front toes side-by-side using single crochets and work around them (You should have 18 Sc in total). Keep the 4th toe separate to sew onto the heel later. Leg (Working up from the foot): From the ankle up, decrease the 18 Sc down to 10 Sc. Rounds 1-30 (30 rounds): 10 Sc Insert your "U" shaped wire frame inside the leg and stuff it tightly with fiberfill. 5. Wings (Cream and Black Yarn - Make 2) We will use black yarn for the feathered wingtips. Start with Black Yarn (Small feather pieces - Make 3): 6 Sc in MR, crochet 6 Sc for 3 rounds. Join the 3 pieces side-by-side to get 18 Sc. Switch to Cream Yarn: Rounds 1-3: 18 Sc Round 4: (4 Sc, 1 Dec) * 3 (15) Rounds 5-7: 15 Sc Round 8: (3 Sc, 1 Dec) * 3 (12) Rounds 9-11: 12 Sc Round 12: (2 Sc, 1 Dec) * 3 (9). Flatten the opening and close it by crocheting across both sides. 6. Pilot Hat and Goggles (Lavender, Brown, White) Hat (Lavender): Follow the same increasing pattern as the first 15 rounds of the head (until you reach 48 Sc). For the ear flaps, select 10 stitches on each side of the hat and crochet back and forth, decreasing at the edges of each row to form triangles. Chain a piece at the ends for the ties. Goggles (Brown and White): Using white yarn, 6 Sc in MR, then increase in every stitch to get 12 Sc. Switch to brown yarn and crochet one round in BLO to create the frame. Make two of these, chain a few stitches to connect them in the center, and crochet a brown strap long enough to wrap around the back of the hat. ???? Carrying Pouch and Tiny Bear Pouch (Lavender) Round 1: 6 Sc in MR Round 2: 6 Inc (12) Round 3: (1 Sc, 1 Inc) * 6 (18) Round 4: (2 Sc, 1 Inc) * 6 (24) Round 5: (3 Sc, 1 Inc) * 6 (30) Round 6: (4 Sc, 1 Inc) * 6 (36) Round 7: (5 Sc, 1 Inc) * 6 (42) Rounds 8-22 (15 rounds): 42 Sc (It will naturally form a bowl shape upwards). For the Strap: From one edge of the pouch, chain about 40-50 stitches (long enough to hang from the stork's beak) and slip stitch to the opposite side. Work one row of single crochets back over the chain. To create the knot/bow effect seen in the photo, crochet a small ring with lavender yarn and sew it over the connection point of the strap
Tiny Bear (Beige/Light Brown) Since only the top half will be visible inside the pouch, you only need to crochet the head and arms. Head: 6 Sc in MR -> 12 Sc -> 18 Sc -> 24 Sc. Crochet 4 rounds of 24 Sc, then decrease and close. Ears: 5 Sc in MR, flatten, and sew onto the head. Arms: 6 Sc in MR, crochet for 5 rounds. ???? Assembly and Details Skeleton Setup: Bend your heavy wire into a "U" shape. Insert it through the legs and up into the body. Extend the top part of the wire all the way through the neck. Wrap any sharp wire ends securely with electrical tape. Legs and Body: Sew the legs symmetrically onto the bottom of the body. The wire must remain stable inside. Head and Neck: Push the neck wire into the head, then secure the head onto the neck using a clean, hidden mattress stitch. Beak: Position the beak right in the center of the face, slightly below eye level, and sew it on. Embroider a subtle smile line along the beak using black thread. Facial Features: Using black embroidery floss, stitch the sleepy/happy closed eyes and eyelashes as shown in the picture. Use pink yarn or actual makeup blush to give the cheeks a rosy glow. Accessories: Place the pilot hat on the head and stitch it down lightly to secure it. Sew the wings onto the sides of the body. Once fully assembled, place the little bear inside the pouch and hang the pouch strap over the stork's beak.
