MUZZLE / MOUTH (Open Mouth Style) To capture the smiling expression seen in "1000106030.jpg", the muzzle is crocheted in two parts: upper muzzle and lower jaw. Upper Muzzle: Round 1: Chain 6. Starting from the 2nd chain from hook: 4 sc, 3 sc in the last chain (W). Turn to work along the opposite side of the chain: 3 sc, 1 inc (12) Round 2: 1 inc, 3 sc, 3 inc, 3 sc, 2 inc (18) Round 3: 1 sc, 1 inc, 3 sc, (1 sc, 1 inc)*3, 3 sc, (1 sc, 1 inc)*2 (24) Rounds 4-6: Sc in each st around (24) Attach the plastic safety nose centered on the upper-middle section of this piece. Lower Jaw & Tongue: Using black yarn, work 6 sc in MR. Switch to pink yarn and crochet one more row over it to form a small half-moon (tongue) shape. This will be tucked inside during assembly.

Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6) Round 2: 6 inc (12) Round 3: (1 sc, 1 inc)*6 (18) Round 4: (2 sc, 1 inc)*6 (24) Round 5: BLO (Back Loops Only) 24 sc (This helps the base stay flat). Rounds 6-7: Sc in each st around (24) Round 8: For paw slope: 6 sc, 6 dec, 6 sc (18) Round 9: 6 sc, 3 dec, 6 sc (15) Rounds 10-24 (15 rounds): Sc in each st around (15) Stuff firmly with fiberfill. 6. HIND LEGS / HIPS (Make 2) Since the puppy is sitting, the upper part of the hind legs is crocheted as a rounded, bulky piece (the thighs). Paw Section: Follow the exact same pattern as the front leg from Round 1 to Round 9 (until 15 stitches remain). Then, crochet 5 rounds straight and fasten off. Thigh / Hip Bulge: Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6) Round 2: 6 inc (12) Round 3: (1 sc, 1 inc)*6 (18) Round 4: (2 sc, 1 inc)*6 (24) Round 5: (3 sc, 1 inc)*6 (30) Rounds 6-9: Sc in each st around (30) Round 10: (3 sc, 1 dec)*6 (24) Sew this rounded thigh piece onto the hind paw section you just made. 7. TAIL Round 1: 5 sc in MR (5) Round 2: 5 sc Round 3: 1 inc, 4 sc (6) Round 4: 1 inc, 5 sc (7) Rounds 5-15: Sc in each st around (7) (To curve the tail upward like in the photo, you can make a secret increase on one side during each round). ???? Assembly and Shaping (The Most Critical Stage) To achieve that innocent, puppy-dog expression from the reference image, the assembly order matters greatly: Eye Sculpting (Deepening the Eyes): Thread a long needle with your main yarn color. Insert it from the open bottom hole of the head and exit right next to the right eye. Insert it one stitch over and come back out through the bottom of the head. Pull firmly to create an indentation and knot it. Repeat the same for the left eye. This gives the realistic, deep look seen in "1000106030.jpg". Muzzle and Mouth: Lightly stuff the upper muzzle and sew it directly centered below the eyes. Position the lower jaw and the pink tongue underneath so the mouth looks naturally open. Use black yarn to embroider a lip line and slightly pull the corners of the mouth upward for a smiling effect. Ears: Sew the ears to both sides of the head, aligned slightly behind and level with the eyes, allowing them to flop downward naturally. Body and Head: Make sure the neck area is packed very tightly with fiberfill before sewing the head onto the body so it doesn't wobble. Legs and Sitting Posture: First, place the puppy on a flat surface. Pin the pofuduk (bulky) hind legs/thighs to the lower sides of the body to stabilize the sitting base, then sew. Next, sew the front legs to the chest area, parallel to each other. Paw Details: Thread a thin piece of black or dark brown yarn onto a needle. Wrap it around the tips of the paws 2-3 times to create the visible toe separations shown in the image.
