Materials List Yarn: Main Color (for Reindeer Body, Head, and Ears): Beige or light brown cotton amigurumi yarn. Hooves and Nose: Red or dark green yarn. Scarf: Red or dark green yarn. Crochet Hook: 2.5 mm or a hook size suitable for your yarn weight. Yarn Needle: Tapestry needle for sewing pieces and weaving in ends. Scissors Optional: Light stuffing (polyfiber) for the head and nose. 1. Body (Granny Square / Motif Body) The body features a perforated mesh/lattice look as seen in the image. How to Make: The motifs are crocheted using classic granny square techniques or alternating double crochets and chain spaces (e.g., 2 double crochets, 2 chains). The body is typically formed by joining small squares or working a flat, shaped piece with open stitch clusters to create the contoured body shape. The outer edge is finished with a round of single crochet (SC) in the main beige color to give it a clean, defined border.
2. Head The head is worked in continuous rounds using standard amigurumi single crochet techniques. Round 1: 6 single crochets (SC) in a magic ring. (6) Round 2: Increase in every stitch (inc). (12) Round 3: (1 SC, 1 inc) x 6 times. (18) Round 4: (2 SC, 1 inc) x 6 times. (24) Round 5: (3 SC, 1 inc) x 6 times. (30) Rounds 6–10: 1 SC in each stitch around (5 rows straight). (30) Round 11: (3 SC, 1 decrease) x 6 times. (24) Round 12: (2 SC, 1 decrease) x 6 times. (18) (Lightly stuff the head with fiberfill at this point). Round 13: (1 SC, 1 decrease) x 6 times. (12) Round 14: 6 decreases to close the opening. Fasten off and weave in the tail. 3. Legs (Make 2) The legs can be worked directly onto the bottom of the body or crocheted separately and sewn on. The hooves start in the contrast color (red or green). Hoof (Start with Red or Green Yarn): Round 1: 6 SC in a magic ring. (6) Round 2: Increase in every stitch. (12) Round 3: (1 SC, 1 inc) x 6. (18) Switch to Main Color (Beige): Rounds 4–6: 18 SC for 3 rows. Leave a long tail for sewing and attach them to the bottom of the body. 4. Ears (Make 2) Using beige yarn, make 6 SC in a magic ring. Round 2: (1 SC, 1 inc) x 3. (9) Round 3: (2 SC, 1 inc) x 3. (12) Rounds 4–5: 12 SC around. Pinch the base slightly and sew them symmetrically to the sides of the head.
5. Antlers (Make 2) For a detailed, branched look, use chain and slip-stitch techniques: Main Stem: Using beige yarn, chain 7. Starting from the 2nd chain from the hook, work back down with slip stitches or single crochets. Side Branch: Partway up the stem, chain 3–4 to create a small offshoot branch, then secure it back to the main stem. Sew the antlers securely to the top of the head. 6. Red Nose Using red yarn, make 6 SC in a magic ring. Round 2: Increase in every stitch to make 12 SC. Round 3: 12 SC, lightly stuff, and sew directly to the center of the face. Eyes: Using black yarn or embroidery floss, stitch happy, closed smiling eyes (curved lines) above the nose. 7. Scarf Using your choice of red or green yarn, chain 6–7. Working back along the chain, make half double crochets in each stitch. Continue in rows until the scarf is long enough to wrap around the neck (approx. 25–30 cm), wrap it around the reindeer's neck, and secure.
Assembly & Hanging Loop Body & Head: Firmly sew the bottom of the head to the top edge of the motif body. Legs: Align and sew the legs evenly to the bottom openings of the body. Scarf: Wrap the scarf around the neck area between the head and body, letting the ends drape forward. Hanging Loop: At the very top of the head (between the antlers), create a long chain loop using the main yarn so it can be hung as a door or Christmas tree ornament.
