Material List Yarn: Blue amigurumi yarn (For the body, head, neck, and wings) White amigurumi yarn (For the lace border edging and some flowers) Purple/Lilac amigurumi yarn (For the flowers and the bow) Sage/Green amigurumi yarn (For the leaves) Orange and black yarn (For the beak and eye details) Crochet Hook: Suitable for your yarn weight (Typically 2.0 mm or 2.5 mm) Stuffing: Fiberfill / Polyfill (To help the neck and head stand firm) Other Materials: Tapestry needle (for joining parts), scissors, small pearl beads for the centers of the flowers (optional). 1. BASKET BODY AND BASE (Blue Yarn) The basket should be crocheted tightly using single crochet (sc) to give it structure. It begins with an oval base: Round 1: Start with 6 single crochet (sc) in a magic ring, or chain 10–12 and work around both sides of the chain to form an oval base. Round 2 – Round X (Expanding the Base): Increase (inc) regularly at the corners/ends in each round until the base reaches the desired oval size (e.g., 25–30 cm long). Transition to Walls: Once the base is complete, work 1 round in the back loop only (BLO) without any increases. This creates a crisp 90^\circ edge between the base and the basket walls. Round 1 – Y (Basket Walls): Continue working in continuous single crochet (sc) without increases or decreases until the basket reaches the desired height (approx. 10–12 cm). Fasten off and weave in ends.
2. SWAN NECK AND HEAD (Blue, Black, and Orange Yarn) The neck is crocheted from the bottom up, stuffed firm, and sewn onto the basket body. Round 1: 6 single crochet (sc) in a magic ring. Round 2: Increase in every stitch (6 inc = 12 sts). Rounds 3–25 (Neck): Work even (12 sc) in rounds. To create the gentle curve of the neck, you can add subtle increases on one side and matching decreases on the opposite side. Head & Beak Transition: Increase the stitch count toward the top to shape the head, then attach safety eyes or embroider the eye details. Beak: Switch to black and orange yarn. Decrease toward the tip to form a pointed beak shape (The orange section and black beak ridge can be made separately and sewn on, or worked with color changes). 3. WINGS (Make 2 - Blue Yarn) The wings are worked in semi-circular or leaf shapes using double crochets to give the basket a 3D effect: Row 1: 6 single crochet in a magic ring, turn. Row 2: Increase across using double crochet (dc) or single crochet (sc). Row 3 and beyond: Work in rows forming a semicircle, increasing regularly at the edges to expand the wing shape with double crochets (dc). For a decorative edge, add a picot border (chain 3, slip stitch in first ch) on the final row. Make 2 wings.
4. WHITE LACE BORDER EDGING A delicate lace trim lining the top rim of the basket: Using white yarn, chain to match the circumference of the basket opening, or join directly to the top edge and work a scalloped/picot lace pattern. Example stitch pattern: (1 sc, ch 3, sl st into same st, skip 1 st) repeating around the entire rim of the basket. 5. FLOWERS AND LEAVES (Embellishments) Purple/Lilac Flowers (Make 3): Crochet small 5- or 6-petaled flowers around a magic ring. Sew or glue a pearl bead in the center. White Flowers (Make 2): Crochet small 5-petaled white flowers in the same manner and attach pearl beads to their centers. Green Leaves (Make 4–5): Chain and work around the chain using single crochets and double crochets to create pointed leaf shapes. 6. BOW (Handheld Piece) Crochet a small rectangle in single crochet, then wrap yarn tightly around the center to pinch it into a bow shape. ???? Assembly & Attachment Instructions Body and Neck: Stuff the blue neck and head firmly with fiberfill. Using a tapestry needle, securely sew the base of the neck to the front/inner wall of the basket. Wings: Sew the two prepared wings symmetrically onto the left and right outer sides of the basket body. Lace Trim: Stitch the white lace trim neatly along the top rim of the basket. Floral Details: Arrange and sew the green leaves onto the front-left wall of the basket. Cluster and attach the purple and white flowers over the leaves.
