Materials: Medium (worsted weight) yarn in black, gray, and white Crochet hook in a size appropriate for the yarn you are using (the yarn label will recommend a hook size) Safety eyes Fiberfill Tapestry needle Scissors
Step by step Pattern Make the body: Start by crocheting a magic ring in black yarn. Crochet 6 single crochets (sc) into the ring. Increase by crocheting 2 sc in each sc around. You should now have 12 sc. Continue crocheting in rounds, increasing by 6 sc evenly around each round. Crochet until the body piece is as wide as you want the bat to be. Stop increasing and continue crocheting in rounds around until the piece is as long as you want the bat's body to be. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Make the head:Start by crocheting a magic ring in black yarn. Crochet 6 sc into the ring. Increase by crocheting 2 sc in each sc around. You should now have 12 sc. Continue crocheting in rounds, increasing by 3 sc evenly around each round for 2 rounds. Continue crocheting in rounds, increasing by 6 sc evenly around each round. Crochet 2 rounds without increasing. Start decreasing by crocheting 2 sc together around. Continue decreasing by crocheting 2 sc together around until you have 6 sc remaining. Stuff the head with fiberfill. Sew the opening closed using the tapestry needle and black yarn.
Make the wings:Chain 30 in black yarn. Turn and crochet 29 sc across the chain. Chain 2 and turn. Crochet 28 sc across the chain. Continue crocheting in rows, decreasing by 1 sc at each end of each row until you have 5 sc remaining. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Repeat to make the second wing. Assemble the bat: Sew the head to the body. Sew the wings to the body, positioning them on either side of the body. Sew on the safety eyes. Embroider a nose and mouth using black yarn.
Make the legs (optional):Crochet 6 sc in a magic ring with gray yarn. Increase by crocheting 2 sc in each sc around. You should now have 12 sc. Continue crocheting in rounds without increasing for a few rounds. Stuff the leg with fiberfill. Sew the opening closed using the tapestry needle and gray yarn. Repeat to make the second leg. Sew the legs to the bottom of the body. Your Halloween Plush Bat Amigurumi is complete!
