Pink-Haired Doll with Lilac Pants Pattern Abbreviations (US Terms) sc = single crochet inc = increase (2 sc in the same stitch) dec = invisible decrease ch = chain stitch sl st = slip stitch hdc = half double crochet dc = double crochet BLO = back loop only FLO = front loop only Note: Work in continuous spirals unless stated otherwise. HEAD (Light Pinkish Skin Tone) R1: 6 sc in magic ring = 6 R2: inc in each st around = 12 R3: (sc, inc) * 6 = 18 R4: (2 sc, inc) * 6 = 24 R5: (3 sc, inc) * 6 = 30 R6: (4 sc, inc) * 6 = 36 R7: (5 sc, inc) * 6 = 42 R8: (6 sc, inc) * 6 = 48 R9: (7 sc, inc) * 6 = 54 R10-16 (7 rounds): 54 sc = 54 (this creates the round "chubby cheeks" shape) Eyes & Face Placement: Insert 8-9 mm black/brown safety eyes between R11 and R12, leaving approx. 6 sc of separation between them. Embroider long eyelashes pointing upwards, and thin eyebrows tilted slightly inward for a sweet/shy expression. R17: (7 sc, dec) * 6 = 48 R18: (6 sc, dec) * 6 = 42 R19: (5 sc, dec) * 6 = 36 R20: (4 sc, dec) * 6 = 30 R21: (3 sc, dec) * 6 = 24 R22: (2 sc, dec) * 6 = 18 (stuff firmly, shaping the cheeks well) R23: (sc, dec) * 6 = 12 DO NOT fasten off yet: these 12 sc will form the neck. Finished head height should be approx. 9-10 cm.
NECK R24-25: 12 sc = 12 Insert a wooden stick or plastic support structure into the neck for rigidity. In R26, we transition to the torso. The corset is not made of skin tone yarn, but the base trunk is crocheted in skin tone up to the underbust so the doll has visible shoulders. Keep using the skin tone color. R26: (sc, inc) * 6 = 18 R27: (2 sc, inc) * 6 = 24 R28: (3 sc, inc) * 6 = 30 R29-30: 30 sc = 30 (base torso up to under-bust) Fasten off with a sl st, leaving a long tail to sew onto the corset later. Stuff firmly. ⚠ Important: The skin-colored base body is meant to be short (do not crochet a long waist in skin color). The visible waist will later be formed by the yellow corset and the green/purple belt. The arms will be sewn directly onto the corset, not onto the visible base body. ARMS (Make 2) In skin color: R1: 6 sc in magic ring = 6 R2: (sc, inc) * 3 = 9 R3-18: 9 sc = 9 (long, slender arm) Do not overstuff: only add a tiny amount of stuffing into the hand and lower part of the arm. Cream Ruffled Cuff (The puff sleeve is added separately): Change to cream color: R19: FLO 9 sc = 9 R20: In each stitch around: (hdc, dc, hdc in the same st) to create ruffles. Fasten off with a sl st, leaving a long tail to sew later onto the corset as a "puff sleeve" over the arm, covering the shoulder. Note: The finished arm should hang exactly down to the middle of the dressed doll's thigh.
LEGS + SHOES (Crocheted directly into the lilac pants) SHOE / WHITE TOE CAP In white: R1: 6 sc in magic ring = 6 R2: inc * 6 = 12 R3: (sc, inc) * 6 = 18 R4: (2 sc, inc) * 6 = 24 R5: 24 sc BLO = 24 (forms the wall of the shoe) Change to pale lilac or cream if you prefer a light inner sole. However, since the shoes are mostly hidden under the pants, you can keep working in white for 1-2 more rounds before switching to the lavender pants color. R6-7: 24 sc = 24 R8: (2 sc, dec) * 6 = 18 R9: 18 sc = 18 Stuff the toe section of the foot. LILAC PANTS & LEGS Change to LILAC: R10: 18 sc = 18 R11: (2 sc, inc) * 6 = 24 R12-28 (approx.): 24 sc = 24 Length Check: The leg should measure approx. 15-16 cm from the tip of the shoe to the crotch. Adjust the number of straight rounds to achieve this length according to YOUR tension. Make 2 identical legs. Do not fasten off the second leg. JOINING THE LEGS FOR THE PANTS (Crotch Join) Place the two legs together. Join them by making a 3-4 ch bridge between them, then continue working in rounds around Leg A, across the chain bridge, around Leg B, and across the other side of the chain bridge. Approximate total stitch count: 24 sc (Leg A) + 24 sc (Leg B) + ~6 sc (from both sides of the bridge) ≈ 54 sc. R1 (Pants Body): 54 sc all the way around = 54 R2-5: 54 sc = 54 R6 (Waist): (7 sc, dec) * 6 = 48 R7: 48 sc = 48 R8: (6 sc, dec) * 6 = 42 R9: 42 sc = 42 This high lilac waistline won't be visible because the green/purple belt and yellow corset will cover it, but it provides a solid foundation to sew onto the torso. Fasten off, leaving a VERY long tail to sew onto the skin-toned base torso (R30).
???? Design Modification for Flare/Bell-Bottom Pants: The doll has bell-bottom style pants with a prominent fold/flare from the knee down. To simulate this: Option A: On each leg, exactly at mid-height (knee level), you can crochet one round in BLO, and later attach a separate "flare triangle" piece sewn into that BLO loop. Option B (Easier): After joining the legs and finishing the body, go back down with lilac yarn and crochet teardrop-shaped panels using dc/tr (double/treble crochet). Sew these panels onto the midsection of the legs to create the distinct flared opening. This is purely aesthetic and does not change the core construction. ASSEMBLING THE TORSO + PANTS Stuff the legs and hips firmly. Sew the waist of the pants (R9 of the leg join) to the bottom edge of the skin-toned torso (R30 of the torso). Secure with invisible stitches all the way around. At this stage, your doll should stand on her own, without arms or a head attached yet, but with a well-proportioned body and realistic lilac pants. PASTEL YELLOW CORSET / TOP This piece is worked separately and dressed onto the skin-toned torso to form the bust, neckline, and cream puff sleeves. Base Piece (Pastel Yellow): Make a foundation chain that fits around the chest just below the armpits of the skin-toned torso. Given our body measurements (30 sc torso circumference), this chain is usually around 28-30 ch. Join in a circle with a sl st. R1: 30 sc = 30 R2: (4 sc, aum) * 6 = 36 (creates a slight bust shape) R3-4: 36 sc = 36 R5: FLO 36 sc = 36 ← this is where the cream ruffled neckline will attach later R6: (4 sc, dec) * 6 = 30 R7: 30 sc = 30 R8 (Waist): (3 sc, dec) * 6 = 24 R9: 24 sc = 24 R10: (2 sc, dec) * 6 = 18 Fasten off. This cone-like shape creates the distinctly snatched waistline seen in the reference. Slide the corset onto the skin torso before sewing the head on. Secure it with a few stitches so it doesn't shift or spin. Cream Neckline Ruffles & Puff Sleeves: Neckline: Go back to R5 FLO of the corset. Attach cream yarn and work dc, dc, dc in each stitch around to create a soft, gathered ruffle. Sleeves: Take each pre-made arm. At shoulder height, use cream yarn to crochet an oval of 12-14 sc around the upper section of the arm (without sewing it to the body yet). Then, work 1 round of (hdc, dc, hdc in the same st) around to achieve a gathered, puffy balloon effect. This gives it a "romantic" sleeve look. Sew the top edge of each sleeve to the rim of the yellow corset, covering the spot where the arm meets the torso.
Green Belt with Purple Bow: Crochet a strip using olive green yarn (1 sc wide, and long enough to wrap around the waist, approx. 18-20 sc long). Sew it around the boundary where the corset ends and the pants begin. Embroider a tiny purple bow right in the front center. ATTACHING THE HEAD TO THE BODY Sew the base of the neck (12 sc) centered onto the top opening of the yellow corset (neckline). Reinforce securely all around. Make sure the chin tilts slightly forward and downward to replicate her sweet, slightly tilted head pose. PINK HAIR The hair consists of a wig cap base, thick spiral/cord strands, a long ponytail, and side-swept bangs. Wig Cap Base: Using pastel pink yarn, repeat the first 6-7 rounds of the head pattern (until you reach approx. 42 sc). Crochet 2-3 straight rounds at that stitch count to form a cap shape. Do not close with decreases; leave it as a beanie/cap. Hair Strands: Ch 25-30. Turn and work back along the chain, making 2 hdc in each ch → this will cause it to curl into a tight spiral. Make MANY strands (30+), a mix of medium and long lengths. Sew the strands onto the wig cap starting from the crown and moving downwards in layers. Leave several long strands falling down to the waist. Bangs (Fringe): Make shorter chains (8-10 ch) and sew them closely together across the forehead, sweeping them to one side. Flower Crown Accent: Make mini flowers in cream, pale yellow, and lavender. (In a magic ring: 6 sc, close. Then work 5 petals around: [ch 2, 2 dc in same st, ch 2, sl st] repeated). Sew them in a circular row on top of the crown like a headband. Position the entire wig assembly onto the head and sew down securely along the hairline to get that perfect volume.
YELLOW PURSE WITH RUFFLES & PURPLE FLOWERS Base: Using cream or pale yellow yarn, crochet a rectangle in rows of sc (e.g., 10 sc x 8 rows). Fold it in half and sew the sides together to form a small pouch. Bright Yellow Ruffle: Attach bright yellow yarn to the top opening rim and work (hdc, dc, dc, hdc in the same st) repeatedly around to form a wavy edge. Purple Flowers: Create mini coiled roses. (Ch 20, work along the chain: [hdc, dc, dc, hdc] repeatedly. Roll it up into a rose shape at the end and sew to secure). Attach them to the front of the bag. Strap: A simple, reinforced chain stitch strand sewn to both sides of the bag. Place the purse strap over her left hand. FACE / FINISHING TOUCHES Blush: Apply pale pink dry pastel/eyeshadow over a generous cheek area. Mouth: Embroider a short, centered smile using very thin coral pink thread (a shy, sweet expression). Eye Highlights: Add a tiny dot of white acrylic paint or a small stitch of white embroidery thread onto each safety eye. Eyebrows: Thin, arched upward and tilted slightly downward toward the center (creating an innocent, confident yet sweet expression). Nose: 1-2 horizontal embroidery stitches using a skin tone color that is slightly darker than the face. QUICK CHECKLIST TO ENSURE ACCURACY Did the head reach a max of 54 sc before tapering down? ✔ Is the head roughly 9-10 cm tall before the neck? ✔ Is the skin torso short (max 30 sc, only 2 straight rounds) without an elongated belly? ✔ Were the legs crocheted directly as lilac pants up to the top and then joined? ✔ Does the pastel yellow corset have a defined waistline (dropping to 18 sc) + a cream ruffle neckline + cream puff sleeves sewn over the arms? ✔ Is the hair made of thick, curled strands attached to a pink cap base rather than loose yarn strands, topped with a pastel flower crown? ✔ Does she have her signature purse with purple flowers? ✔
