Foody DaD is a video Center
Material used: two and a half balls of white D'Primera wool from Cisne and just a little dark gray wool for the beak and details of the feet and wings; 5mm needle, marker, eyes with safety pin; stuffing that can be polyester fiber or acrylic, I used acrylic.Since the owl is made in continuous rounds, the marker is essential to avoid getting lost. There are single crochet stitches (sc) from start to finish, with increases (inc) and decreases (dec), except for the wings, which are made in rows. The numbers in parentheses indicate the total number of stitches at the end of each round. The sequences that must be repeated for the entire round are between asterisks (*). We must remember to attach the eyes before adding the stuffing, if they are the ones with a safety pin. I made the discs around the eyes right away and attached them as soon as I finished the head and the beginning of the body.
Step by step Head and Body V1 – Start with a magic ring and make 6 sc inside it (6) V2 – 6 inc (2 sc in the same stitch as the previous round) (12) V3 – *1 sc, 1 inc* (18) V4 – *2 sc, 1 inc* (24) V5 – *3 sc, 1 inc* (30) V6 – *4 sc, 1 inc* (36) V7 – *5 sc, 1 inc* (42) V8 – *6 sc, 1 inc* (48) V9 – *7 sc, 1 inc* (54) V10-18 – 1 sc in each stitch (54) V19 – *7 sc, 1 dec* (48) V20 – *6 sc, 1 dec* (42) V21 – *5 sc, 1 dec* (36) V22 – *4 sc, 1 dec* (30) V23-24 – 1 sc in each stitch (30) Catch your eyes with the discs V25 – *4 sc, 1 inc* (36) V26 – *5 sc, 1 inc* (42) V27 – 1 sc in each stitch (42) V28 – *6 sc, 1 inc* (48) V29 – 1 sc in each stitch (48) V30 – *7 sc, 1 inc* (54)V31 – 1 sc in each stitch (54) V32 – *8 sc, 1 inc* (60) V33-42 – 1 sc in each stitch (60)Place part of the filling V43 – *8 sc, 1 dec* (54) V44 – 1 sc in each stitch (54) V45 – *7 sc, 1 dec* (48) V46 – 1 sc in each stitch (48) V47 – *6 sc, 1 dec* (42) V48 – 1 sc in each stitch (42) V49 – *5 sc, 1dec* (36) V50 – 1 sc in each stitch (36) V51 – *4 sc, 1 dec* (30) Complete the filling V52 – *3 sc, 1 dec* (24) V53 – *2 sc, 1 dec* (18) V54 – *1 sc, 1 dec* (12) V55 – 6 dim (6) Using a tapestry needle, sew until the hole is completely closed and finish by hiding the rest of the wool. Ears (make 2) V1 – Make a magic ring with 4 sc (4) V2 – 4 inc (8) V3 – *1 sc, 1 inc* (12)
V4 – *2 sc, 1 inc* (16) V5 – *3 sc, 1 inc* (20) Leave a long thread to sew in V6-7 of the head. Eye Discs (make 2) V1 – Make a magic ring and 6 sc inside it (6) V2 – 6 inc (12) V3 – *1 sc, 1 inc* (18) V4 – *2 sc, 1 inc* (24) V5 – *3 sc, 1 inc* (30) Leave a long thread to sew onto the head. Nozzle V1 – Make a magic ring and 4 sc inside it (4) V2 – *1 sc, 1 inc* (6) V3 – *2 sc, 1 inc* (8) V4 – *3 sc, 1 inc* (10) Leave a long tail for sewing.Wings (make 2) The wings are made in rows of single crochet stitches. At the end of each row, make 1 chain and turn** C1 – Make 3 chains, insert the hook into the second chain and make 2 sc in each (4)** C2 – 1 inc, 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 inc (6)** C3 – 6 sc (6)** C4 – 1 inc, 5 sc (7)** C5 – 6 sc, 1 inc (8)**C6-7 – 8 sc (8)** C9 – 7 sc, 1 inc (9)** C10 – 9 sc (9)** C11 – 2 dec, 5 sc (7)** R12 – 5 sc, 1 dec (6)** C13 – 2 dec, 2 sc (4)** R14 – 4 sc (4)** C15 – 2 dim (2)** R16 – 2 sc (2)** Make sc around the entire wing and close with a slip stitch, leaving a long thread to sew on the sides of the body. Using gray or black wool and a tapestry needle, draw a free-form design on the wings.
Feet (make 2 with three claws on each) For each claw: V1 – magic ring with 4 sc (4) V2 – 4 inc (8) V3-5 – 8 sc (8) V6 – 2 sc, 1 dec (6)Now, we will join the three claws with sc. Close the opening of the first one with sc and, in a continuous way, join the second and then the third claw, closing the openings. Now that they are attached to each other with a row of single crochets, we will make 4 rows to have a base to sew the feet to the body. Like this: C1: 6 sc. Chain up and turn C2: 5 sc. Chain up and turn C3 – 4 sc. Go up one chain and turn R4 – 4 sc. Leave a long thread to sew on the bottom of the body. With a little gray or black wool and a tapestry needle we make the nails.
Tail The tail has two parts and is made in the same way, joining the two parts with sc and extending with rows to make it easier to sew to the back of the body. V1 – magic ring with 6 sc (6) V2 – 6 inc (12) V3-5 – 1 sc in each stitch (12) V6 – *2 sc, 1 dec* (9) C1: 9 sc. Chain up and turn C2: 8 sc. Chain up and turn C3 – 7 sc. Chain up and turn R4 – 7 sc. Leave a long thread to sew on the bottom of the body. In fact, we can extend the careers as far as we see fit. Feel free to add or remove, or even do none at all ????
